Sim'R

Always on the lookout for a new breakfast place we were on our way elsewhere when we walked past Sim'R in Hargreaves St this morning & changed our plans to check it out.  Luke had been there for takeaway coffee before, and I had walked past before it opened and then apparently forgot all about it (very unlike me) until today!

I ordered french toast that came with shiraz poached apple and berries (I asked for mascarpone on the side).  Loved the fit out with gorgeous lights, decorative ceiling & delicious pops of red.  They have the most amazing sized yo-yos at the cake counter, they could probably almost be classifed as whoopie pies.  The canvases  on the wall are also amazing (although Luke said he wouldn't be able to sleep if they were in his room...always brings an unusual take to an art critique!).

The one thing missing was a collection of magazines & newspapers in the corner which I think always makes for a cosier brunch feel to a place.  French toast was very tasty (although I'm always a fan of slightly thicker breads when it comes to french toast) & the mocha-to-go we ordered on the way out was great, so I think we will definitely be back.

All day breakfast places that are open on a Sunday in Bendigo aren't always easy to find so I hope Sim'R sticks around for the long haul. If it does, it will definitely be on our "regular haunts" list!

You can read more about them here thanks to Food Fossickers at the Bendigo Weekly, and find them at 236 Hargreaves St Bendigo (opposite the Library).
